Dear colleagues,
At the Assembly of SOBEP's Congress of 2015, held in S�o Paulo, the partners decided to adopt the continuous numbering of our congresses considering the first Journey of Stomatology held at the organization's founding year in 1974. The event was called Brazilian Journey of Stomatology and adopted the name Brazilian Congress of Stomatology in 1993, a year after the recognition of specialty by the Federal Council of Dentistry. Since then, the major events by SOBEP have been called after both names. The use of the term "Congress" increased the visibility and the perception of importance of the event including attending the request of state and federal funding agencies. The Congress of Manaus would therefore be the 24th Brazilian Congress of Stomatology and the 42nd Brazilian Journey of Stomatology. With the decision made in S�o Paulo in July, 2015, the congress to be held in Manaus in 2016 will be the 42nd Brazilian Congress of Stomatology. This decision values the history of our organization as unequivocal leadership in the field of mouth disease study, diagnosis, and treatment.
