Resumo: Introduction:Oral squamous cell carcinoma (OSCC) is associated with a high mortality rate, primarily due to tumor progression and late diagnosis. Objective:This study aims to identify the expression of microRNA146 (miR-146) and Tumor Necrosis Factor Receptor-Associated Factor 6 (TRAF6) to aid in the prognosis and treatment of OSCC.Methodology:The expression of miR-146 and TRAF6 was evaluated in tissue samples ranging from normal oral squamous epithelium to lymph node metastasis. Results:It was observed that TRAF6 expression decreases as the tumor becomes more malignant, while miR-146 expression gradually increases, suggesting its role as an oncogenic factor. Conclusion:These findings suggest that miR-146 and TRAF6 could serve as potential biomarkers for OSCC, with the potential to aid in diagnosis, prognosis, and selection of targeted therapies. However, further studies are necessary to validate these biomarkers.
