Resumo: Cystadenoma is a rare benign epithelial salivary gland neoplasm, characterized by a predominantly multicystic growth pattern. The lesion represents 1 to 4% of all salivary gland neoplasms. About half of cases occur in the parotid gland, followed by minor glands of the lip, buccal mucosa, palate and tongue. The floor of the mouth is rarely involved. This study reports a case of a 54 year-old male patient presenting a asymptomatic swelling in the floor of the mouth with a 2-week history. Physical examination revealed a smooth, nontender 3.5-cm mass and clinical diagnosis was ranula, due to purplish color and softened consistency. An incisional biopsy was perfomed, and microscopic examination showed a glandular neoplasm with multicystic growth pattern, exhibiting intraluminal papillary proliferation and areas of oncocytic differentiation. The histopathological diagnosis was salivary gland cystadenoma. The patient underwent simple excision and currently is under follow-up with no signs of recurrence.
