Resumo: Amyloidosis is a disease characterized by progressive deposition of abnormal proteins that can occur in any organ. Head and neck amyloidosis usually appears as immunoglobulin light chain amyloidosis. The oral typical manifestation is progressive macroglossia, but granular, papular, nodular lesions or purple protuberance lesions can also be seen as clinical manifestations. A 63-year-old patient diagnosed with multiple myeloma was evaluated by the dentistry team during hospitalization, and multiple yellowish nodular lesions located on the dorsum of the tongue, oral floor, labial mucosa and labial frenulum was noticed. A biopsy followed by histopathologic analysis confirmed the diagnosis of amyloidosis. No clinical symptoms or signs involving systemic organs was identified so far. The multidisciplinary care and the performance of the dental surgeon in the hospital environment is important in the earlier diagnosis and in the orientation of regular follow-up by the medical team to monitor the possible progression to a systemic condition.
