Resumo: We report a case of rehabilitation with a palatal prosthesis device to assist speech therapy. A 56-year-old male patient presented to the stomatology service seeking a palatal device to improve activities of daily living such as eating and speaking. After experiencing two recurrences of squamous cell carcinoma in the soft palate region, the patient opted not to undergo reconstructive microsurgery, resulting in an anatomical defect that impaired speech and swallowing. A case plan was devised, proposing a molding for a palatal obturator prosthesis. Following device delivery and adaptation in the oral cavity, the patient experienced spontaneous improvement in speech with the use of the appliance. Palatal obturator prostheses can be a highly effective option for improving the quality of life in such patients.
