Área Temática: Odontologia para pacientes especiais

Resumo: The Pierre Robin Sequence (PRS) is a rare congenital anomaly, defined by the clinical triad of micrognathia, glossoptosis and breathing difficulties. Therefore, this study aims to present the most common oral and craniofacial manifestations found in these patients. For this purpose, articles published since 2019 were accessed on Pubmed using the keywords "pierre robin sequence", "oral manifestations", "craniofacial manifestations". After a careful review, ten articles were chosen. In addition, we present two cases of patients treated at a reference center in northeastern Brazil, to illustrate the phenotypic diversity: one presenting PRS with cleft palate, and one presenting Stickler syndrome. The abnormalities associated with PRS are diverse: they can be isolated, associated with cleft palate and/or syndromes, or incompatible with life. Thus, health professionals should know this clinical condition. A multidisciplinary team must ensure its approach, diagnosis, and management to prevent irreversible sequelae.
