Resumo: Objective: To evaluate the clastogenic and aneugenic potential of hydrogel incorporated to the Byrsonima gardneriana (HBG) extract using the micronucleus test. Study design: Three experimental groups composed of three male and three female Mus musculus mice were used. The test group was treated orally with concentrations of 2000 µg/mL of HBG, the negative control group received treatment only with the dispersing solution of the sample (HP), and the positive control group received administration of the mutagenic agent cyclophosphamide at a dose of 50 mg/kg of animal weight. 24h after the treatments, a blood sample was collected through the intracardiac route for the preparation of slides and observation of the presence or absence of micronuclei in the erythrocytes of each animal. The results were expressed as mean ± standard deviation with application of one-way analysis of variance (ANOVA one-way) with Tukeys post hoc test, establishing a significance level of 5%. Results: After the administration of a single dose of 2000 mg/kg, none of the groups induced an increase in the frequency of micronuclei when compared to the positive control group. Conclusion: The HBG did not produce genotoxic effects in mouse erythrocytes.
