Título: FACIAL NODULAR FASCIITIS IN AN ADULT PATIENT: A CASE REPORT OF AN UNCOMMON MANIFESTATION

Resumo: Nodular fasciitis (NF) is a self-limited lesion composed of fibroblasts and myofibroblasts. This study presents a rare case of NF involving the face of an adult patient. A 32-year-old woman presented with a painless subcutaneous mass at the right zygomatic region, with one year of duration. The patient's medical history was unremarkable. An excisional biopsy was performed. Microscopic examination demonstrated a smooth tissue lesion partially covered by a fibrous capsule. The lesion exhibited an admixture of cellular and acellular areas associated with prominent collagen bands. Blood vessels and microcystic areas were noted among the collagen and cellular zones. Immunohistochemical findings demonstrated positivity for vimentin, alpha-SMA, and HHF35. A final diagnosis of NF was established. The patient has not presented any recurrences so far. Awareness of NF and its nature is essential to avoid misdiagnosis and subsequent inappropriate treatment approaches.
