Resumo: Kaposis sarcoma (KS) is an angioproliferative disorder caused by HHV 8 that can affect multiple organs and is a strong indicator of progression to AIDS. The aim is report a case of KS oral manifestation. A 29-year-old male patient was referred from the Infectious Disease (ID) hospital to the stomatology department for evaluation of a purplish oral lesion in the hard palate. On extraoral examination, multiples brownish spots located at the abdomen, chest, back and arms, measuring 3mm-1cm were observed. On intra oral examination, an irregular single violaceous plaque, well delimitated, measuring 2.5x2cm, on the left side of the hard palate was also observed. An incisional biopsy was performed and the histological and immunohistochemistry findings confirmed the diagnosis of KS. The patient returned to the infectious disease specialist for treatment. This case emphasizes that despite advances in antiretroviral therapy, KS can be undiagnosed even in an ID hospital.
