Resumo: Objective: To evaluate the accuracy and agreement of ChatGPT® (OpenAI) in diagnosing and treating head and neck injuries. Study design: A diagnostic prompt was created on the ChatGPT® Artificial Intelligence platform using vignettes and images from clinical cases. Ten cases were selected from a Stomatology outpatient clinic, including diagnoses such as cat scratch, hemangioma, syphilis, leukoplakia, mucoepidermoid carcinoma, squamous cell carcinoma, lipoma, ranula, pseudomembranous candidiasis, and lichen planus. These cases were presented to two Stomatology specialists who independently provided their clinical assessments. Subsequently, ChatGPT® was asked to diagnose and suggest management for each case based on the information provided. The accuracy of ChatGPT diagnoses and agreement with expert assessments based on a gold standard were evaluated. Results: There was 100% agreement in diagnosis between ChatGPT and the experts in all ten cases. Regarding the recommendation of tests, ChatGPT® was more accurate than the experts (80% accuracy). However, when recommending appropriate biopsies, the experts were more accurate (100%). Conclusion: The accuracy of ChatGPT® in diagnosing and recommending tests was satisfactory, suggesting it can be an effective auxiliary tool when combined with professional judgment.
