Resumo: Pleomorphic adenoma (PA) is the most common salivary gland tumor, affecting mainly women in the fourth to sixth decade of life and predominantly affecting the parotid gland. Approximately 6% of untreated PA cases may progress to carcinoma ex PA. Our study aimed to delineate patient profiles and compare them with those documented in literature. For this purpose, we conducted a retrospective cross-sectional study in which clinicopathological, microscopic, and prognostic data were extracted from patients medical records and analyzed in Excel. From 1990 to 2020, 275 PA cases were identified. The analysis revealed a predominance of female patients (60%), with the incidence peaking between the third and sixth decade of life. The parotid gland was the most commonly affected site (79.6%) followed by the submandibular gland (18.5%). Factors such as skin color, smoking history, alcohol consumption, and pre-existing medical conditions did not significantly influence the diagnosis of PA. Most cases did not recur (96.1%) and none showed malignant transformation. A significant proportion of patients were lost to follow-up (52.4%), whereas a substantial subset (46.7%) remained alive and disease-free. In conclusion, our findings are consistent with the established profiles documented in the literature, highlighting the prevalence and clinical characteristics of PA.
