Resumo: The palatal obturator prosthesis is used for maxillary tissue losses to restore stomatognathic functions, as seen in patients with oral cancer. Defects are replaced by prostheses, which offer advantages such as wound healing observation, disease recurrence monitoring, technique simplicity, and reduced cost. A female patient, 58 years old, noticed an ulcerated lesion on the palate (05/2021), diagnosed with adenoid cystic carcinoma, in the maxilla and palate region (10/2022). Treatment involved tumor resection (sequela: oroantral communication) and 30 sessions of radiotherapy. She reported dysphagia, regurgitation, difficulty in speech and chewing, and xerostomia; she quit smoking after the biopsy results. Rehabilitated with a temporary removable partial prosthesis, extended posteriorly to close the communication on the left side, at the hard-soft palate junction. Despite being a temporary prosthesis, it provided immediate quality of life improvement, along with enhanced speech, chewing, swallowing, and will be replaced by a cobalt-chromium framework removable partial denture.
