Resumo: A 74-year-old brown woman came to the dentist complaining of a lesion in her mouth. Clinical examination revealed an exophytic lesion on the hard palate, brownish in color, asymptomatic and with the presence of a central fistula, which expelled secretion during manipulation. Diagnostic hypothesis was necrotizing sialometaplasia, and an excisional biopsy was carried out followed by an anatomopathological evaluation. Histopathological report was compatible with oncocytoma, confirmed by the positive PAS staining of the oncocytes. This case report shows that although this tumor is mostly associated with the major salivary glands, especially the parotid, in rare cases it can be seen in minor salivary glands. The treatment of choice in cases affecting minor glands is surgical excision with a margin of adjacent normal tissue. Benign and malignant minor salivary gland tumors can often be seen on the palate, but oncocytoma is rare, and histopathological assessment is essential for treatment and prognosis.
