Resumo: This study aimed to investigate the clinical, radiographic, and histopathological data of the Buccal Bifurcation Cyst (BBC). A literature search was performed in five databases: Embase, LIVIVO, Pubmed, Scopus, and Web of Science, on September 8, 2023. A total of 510 studies were identified, of which 72 were read in full and 39 were selected for inclusion. BBC demonstrated a preference for the jaw, predominantly unilateral. Clinically, gingival swelling was the most recurrent finding, followed by extraoral swelling. Painful symptom was reported in 24 of the 87 patients, while 18 did not report pain. Radiographically, the lesion was described by a well-defined radiolucency, ovoid in shape, with sclerotic edges, generally associated with the affected tooth. The histopathology revealed a cystic membrane lined by a non-keratinized stratified squamous epithelium, with the presence of chronic inflammatory cells. The most commonly used treatment was enucleation without tooth extraction, with a low recurrence rate observed in most cases. BCC is a relevant clinical condition in pediatric patients, often underdiagnosed due to a lack of knowledge. Therefore, an accurate diagnosis, based on clinical, radiographic, and histopathological findings, is crucial to distinguish this condition from other types of lesions.Funding: CAPES (88887.877799/2023-00)
