Resumo: Ameloblastoma is a benign neoplasm originated from odontogenic epithelium. Desmoplastic ameloblastoma (DA) is a rare subtype of ameloblastoma. It is characterized histologically by densely collagenous stroma with small nests and islands of odontogenic epithelium. Herein we described a case of a 50-year-old woman presenting facial asymmetry. Intraorally, a swelling in left premolars and molars region was noticed. On radiographic examination, a multilobular and multilocular radiolucent lesion with tooth displacement was observed. Surgical resection of the lesion was performed. Histopathological features were compatible with desmoplastic ameloblastoma. After 6-month-follow-up, the patient showed no relapse. Due its rarity, DA usually is misdiagnosed as fibro-osseous lesions since both are similar radiologically. Knowledge of clinicopathological aspects of DA is important for diagnosis and decision making. Support: FAPESB
