Resumo: Objective: To determine the clinicopathological profile of oral squamous cell carcinoma (OSCC) in young patients at an oral pathology laboratory in the northeastern region of Brazil. Study Design: Descriptive and retrospective occurrence study, comprising all cases of OSCC in patients up to 45 years old, from 1970 to 2023. Results: Out of 612 cases of OSCC in the service, 53 occurred in young patients (8,6%), affecting mostly men (69%), of white skin (50%), with a mean age of 37 years. The most common location was the tongue (48%), followed by the lip and floor of the mouth. Lesions were limited to only one anatomical site and without bone invasion in 88% of cases. The most common clinical presentation was ulcer (46%), erythroplastic (39%), symptomatic (55%) with a mean size of 2.1 cm. According to the histopathological classification proposed by the WHO, 33% of cases were considered well-differentiated, 41% moderately differentiated, and 25% poorly differentiated. Conclusion: Despite being uncommon in the young population, attention is drawn to the increasing occurrence of OSCC in recent decades, highlighting the importance of investigations to explain this scenario.
