Resumo: A 38-year-old female patient, admitted to hospital due to symptoms of anemia, loss of strength in the lower limbs and hypercalcemia, was diagnosed with multiple myeloma. An evaluation was requested to the Dentistry Service due to the presence of macroglossia, crenated tongue and ulcers on the borders of the tongue. After clinical discussion, a suspicion of Amyloidosis was raised, and the patient underwent a biopsy in two alternative non-invasive sites: 1) subcutaneous abdominal fat (by Medical team), which did not confirm the presence of amyloid substance; 2) oral cavity, dorsum of tongue and minor salivary gland of the lower lip (by Dentistry team). The anatomopathological study, with Hematoxylin-Eosin and Congo Red stain, found extensive deposition of amyloid substances on the dorsum of tongue, compatible with Amyloidosis. After hospital discharge, medical and chemotherapy treatments for Multiple Myeloma and Amyloidosis continued being performed, with significant improvement in the systemic and oral symptoms.
