Resumo: Fine-needle aspiration (FNA) is a highly accurate and cost-efficient method commonly employed for salivary gland issues, encompassing a spectrum from inflammation to tumors, which may be either neoplastic or not. A 25-year-old female patient presented with a 50-mm nodule, circumscribed, on the upper right lip, rubbery in consistency and smooth surface, with coloration similar to that of the mucosa, evolving over 6 years. Ultrasound-guided FNA was performed and material assessed for liquid-based cytology (LBC). Examination of the LBC revealed the presence of individual or clustered cells with normochromatic nuclei displaced to the periphery and eosinophilic cytoplasm with morphology resembling that of a plasma cell, suggestive of pleomorphic adenoma. An incisional biopsy was performed and a diagnosis of the pleomorphic adenoma was made. The patient was treated by surgical approach and is without recurrence. The ultrasound-guided FNA is an ancillary tool for diagnosis of salivary glands diseases.
