Resumo: Objective: The present study aimed to review a series of odontomas cases by observing their histopathological and radiographic aspects. Study design: forty cases of odontomas were obtained from the archive of the Surgical Pathology Service of the Dental School of the Federal University of Bahia between the years 2002 and 2021. Analyzed with regard to age, gender, clinical manifestations, radiographic aspect, anatomical distribution and macroscopic and microscopic descriptions. Results: Compound odontomas showed a prevalence of occurrence in the first decade of life, in the anterior region of the maxilla, with a typically monotonous histological pattern, characterized by the presence of mature and well-organized dental tissues. Conversely, complex odontomas had a higher prevalence in the third decade of life, occurring more frequently in the posterior region of the mandible, and their histology presented greater diversity, with a wide variety of architectural patterns. Conclusion: This study provided insight into the different morphological aspects of odontomas, contributing to the understanding of odontoma as a hamartoma. Clinical, radiographic, and morphological aspects are similar to those described in the literature, although greater histopathological variability was observed in compound odontomas.
