Título: A RARE CASE OF ORAL HISTIOCYTIC SARCOMA

Resumo: A 62-year-old male presented with painful and bleeding nodules on the alveolar ridge over the past two months. Intraoral examination revealed multiple 2-cm blackish/purplish pedunculated nodules, with ulcerated and granulomatous surface and fibrous consistency on the mandibular alveolar ridge. The incisional biopsy showed proliferation of anaplastic cells with intense cell pleomorphism, abundant eosinophilic to vacuolated or foamy cytoplasm, ovoid to irregularly shaped nuclei, variably prominent nucleoli, mitotic activity, tumor necrosis, and a mixed background inflammatory infiltrate. Immunohistochemistry revealed positivity for CD163 and lysozyme, and negativity for CD1a, confirming the diagnosis of Histiocytic Sarcoma (HS). HS is an exceedingly rare malignancy resembling histiocytes. It typically involves extranodal sites but has not been reported in oral mucosa. Following diagnosis, the patient was referred to the oncological center; however, due to advanced and aggressive disease, palliative care was initiated, and the patient deceased shortly after hospitalization.
