Título: INTRAOSSEOUS XANTHOMA IN THE HEAD AND NECK REGION: CASE REPORT

Nome do Apresentador: Israel Leal CAVALCANTE

Categoria do Trabalho: Painel de caso clínico (PCC)

Área Temática: Estomatologia

Resumo: Intraosseous xanthomas (IX) are rare and can be associated with metabolic or endocrine disorders. The purpose of this report is to describe a case of IX located in the maxillary bones. An 18-year-old female patient presented a radiolucent lesion in the posterior mandibular body, incidentally identified on radiographic examination. The patients medical history revealed several surgical interventions on the mandible. The lesion was completely excised and sent for analysis. Histologically, round to oval cells exhibiting foamy and granular eosinophilic cytoplasm with small hyperchromatic nuclei were observed. These cells were immunopositive for CD68 and immunonegative for S-100. The patient did not present any endocrine or metabolic conditions causing hyperlipidemia, indicating a primary intraosseous xanthoma. The patient is under clinical-radiographic follow-up and shows no signs of recurrence after two years.
