Resumo: The oral cavity can present lesions with different etiologies. The knowledge of the features of these lesions is very important for diagnosis and management. The aim of this study was to evaluate oral lesions diagnosed and to analyze the accuracy of clinical and histopathological diagnoses. A retrospective and observational analysis of stomatological lesions between the years 2018 and 2023 was conducted. A total of 6583 medical records were analyzed, and the lesions in soft and hard tissues were selected. The agreement between clinical and histopathological diagnosis was evaluated based on their sensitivity, specificity, and accuracy. Among the groups that showed higher diagnostic accuracy are reactive lesions and benign neoplasms. Disorders of epithelial maturation and malignant neoplasms demonstrated good accuracy, while autoimmune lesions had the lowest accuracy. Therefore, we observed that the provisional clinical diagnosis proved effective due to the understanding of the etiology and development of these lesions.
