Resumo: Solitary fibrous tumor (SFT) is an uncommon mesenchymal neoplasm that rarely affects the oral mucosa. This study aimed to report a rare case of SFT mimicking a salivary gland tumor on the soft palate. A 70-year-old male patient presented for diagnosis of a firm telangiectatic nodule on the soft palate with 3 months of evolution. Clinical hypothesis included benign and malignant salivary gland tumors. An incisional biopsy was performed, which revealed a benign proliferation of spindle cells interspersed with staghorn vessels. Immunohistochemical staining demonstrated positivity for vimentin, CD34, CD99, Bcl-2, STAT-6, and Ki-67 (<2%). Based on these findings, the diagnosis of a SFT was established. The patient was referred for an otorhinolaryngology service and was submitted to complete excision of the lesion by a partial pharyngectomy. Surgical specimen confirmed the previous diagnosis. The patient recovered uneventfully and there have been no recurrence in 6 months of follow-up.
