Título: BURKITTS LYMPHOMA PRESENTING AS A PAINFUL GINGIVAL ENLARGEMENT: A RARE CASE REPORT

Resumo: A 61-year-old woman, with a history of thyroid carcinoma, presented to the Emergency of an oncology hospital with complaints of oral pain and paresthesia in the lower lip for 50 days. The patient had undergone extraction of teeth 36 and 38 and pulpectomy of 34 and 35 due to suspicion of odontogenic infection. An incomplete healing in the tooth 36 region with a reddish and hardened gingival enlargement was observed. Magnetic resonance findings indicated the involvement of the mandibular canal. Malignant neoplasm was our main diagnosis hypothesis. An incisional biopsy was performed, and the histopathological analysis established the diagnosis of Burkitts Lymphoma. Serologies for HIV and Epstein-Barr-Virus were negative. PET-CT imaging revealed abnormal concentrations in the abdominal, pelvic, and skeletal regions. Treatment was based on chemotherapy. Although rare in adults, this case emphasizes the importance of a multidisciplinary team in cancer treatment, in order to allow rapid and appropriate management.
