Resumo: Extraosseous ameloblastoma is a rare epthelial benign odontogenic tumor. This is responsible for approximately 1% to 10% of all ameloblastomas and affecting soft tissues without invasion or involvement of bone. The present case reports a 51-year-old female patient presenting a fast-growing sessile and reddish nodule, with a smooth surface, resilient consistency and measuring 1.5 cm approximately. This lesion was lacated in the mandible at the lingual gingiva between elements 33 to 41. The periapical radiographic examination was able to confirm the involvement of only soft tissues, but with eroded areas of alveolar bone in the region of the lesion. An after excisional biopsy, diagnosis of peripheral ameloblastoma showing a follicular pattern was confirmed. The patient underwent further surgery to remove the remaining lesion. Nowadays, the outcome of the patient is satisfactory without reincidence of tumor ofter twelve months of follow-up.
