Resumo: Objective: To analyze the knowledge of lactating women about oral health in early
childhood, a survey was applied through Google and carried out at the Human Milk Bank Marly Sarney in the city of Aracaju. Study design: The form was conducted with questions related to socioeconomic, cultural, demographic aspects and oral health in early childhood.
Alongside with the online survey, field research was executed with the approach of
breastfeeding women in the institutions waiting room. Results: It was observed that 33
lactating women between 20-40 years of age who received dental guidance (57.6%) during
pregnancy had a greater perception of oral health in early childhood. 85% agreed that breast milk does not cause caries, 45.2% of them take their children to the dentist only in case of mouth injury or pain. 51.5% did not mention that they should insert fluoride toothpaste during cleaning as soon as their teeth erupt, and 30.3% of mothers informed that they did not do the neonatal tongue screening test. Conclusion: Lactating women who received dental guidance during pregnancy had a greater perception of their childrens oral health, with impacts on the procedures adopted in early childhood.
