Resumo: Head and neck radiotherapy (RT) is a non-selective treatment and can cause sequelae such as oral mucositis, dysgeusia, xerostomia, acute dermatitis, radiation caries and osteoradionecrosis, among others. The hospital dentistry discipline at FAESA-University Center this semester works at the AFECC hospital in Vitória/ES, which is a reference in state oncological care. In 2 months, he has already seen more than 100 patients in just 2 days of work, totaling 8 hours per week. Patients are clinically evaluated to issue a pre-radiotherapy dental opinion. Dental management includes guidance on oral hygiene, hydration of lips and mucous membranes, prescription of topical and oral therapies in cases of infectious lesions and low-power laser therapy in the treatment and prevention of oral mucositis. When there are oral infectious foci, the vast majority of them are referred for treatment at the colleges outpatient clinic, as a matter of urgency to shorten the start of RT. The partial results computed so far confirm optimism regarding the recovery of citizenship and improvement in the quality of life of patients and already motivates us to invest in new work fronts, with an increase in working hours and the creation of another dental outpatient clinic within the hospital.
