Nome do Apresentador: Sinval Vinícius Barbosa do NASCIMENTO

Categoria do Trabalho: Painel de caso clínico (PCC)

Área Temática: Cirurgia e traumatologia bucomaxilofacial

Resumo: Patient, female, 47 years old. Approximately 17 months ago, he complained of spontaneous pain on palpation in the right posterior mandibular region. In consultation with a clinical dentist, a dental origin was ruled out and a panoramic x-ray of the jaws was requested, which identified a radiopaque, circumscribed, well-defined lesion in the right mandibular branch, close to the right mandibular canal. Characteristics confirmed in cone beam tomography requested later. Due to the location of the lesion, the procedure was chosen under general anesthesia. Intraoral access (right posterior mandibular vestibular access) was performed to expose the right mandibular branch and completely remove the lesion using surgical piezoelectric. The procedure was uneventful. The anatomopathological report concluded that it was a compound odontoma. During a one-year post-operative follow-up, the patient did not present any painful symptoms in the region and the imaging examination suggested signs of new bone formation.
