Resumo: Laugier-Hunziker syndrome is a rare, acquired disorder of unknown etiology that affects mostly the mucous membranes. It is characterized by the presence of multiple hyperpigmented macules, which are frequently found on the oral mucosa and are associated with longitudinal ridging of the nails. To confirm Laugier-Hunziker syndrome diagnosis other conditions such as Addisons disease and Peutz-Jeghers syndrome need to be ruled out. Hereinafter, we report a case of a 52-year-old female patient who was found to have gradually progressive hyperpigmented macules on her oral mucosa, also present on palpebral mucosa, and mild dark striations on the fingernails. After thorough clinical and laboratory investigations to exclude other conditions, the diagnosis of Laugier-Hunziker syndrome was established. Laugier-Hunziker syndrome is considered a benign disease with no systemic manifestation or malignant potential. Therefore, the patient was given proper instructions and discharged accordingly.
