Título: Clinico-pathological findings in oral squamous cell carcinoma from surgical pathology specimen analysis: a case series.

Resumo: Objective: to describe the clinico-pathological findings of oral squamous cell carcinoma from surgical pathology specimen.
Study design: data were retrospectively collected from patients diagnosed with oral cancer between February/2019 and August/2023 and included gender, primary tumor site, age, first symptoms time, smoke and alcohol consumption, staging and pathological features from surgical specimens.
Results: 28 individuals (24 males and 4 females) with median age of 57yo (27-79) were enrolled in this retrospective study. Meantime from the first signs of cancer through the diagnosis was 4 months (2-12), 71,5% were smokers with the mean of smoking burden of 45 pack-years (1-120), 67,8% were exposed to alcohol. The most frequent site was the tongue (46,4%). Oral cancers early clinical stage was seen in 46,7% and ECOG status 0 was seen in 50%. Pathological findings pT1 and pT2 staging were seen 46,4%, moderately differentiated in 71,4%, lymphovascular invasion was seen in 42,8% and perineural invasion in 46,4%. Margins were positive for carcinoma in 39,2% of cases. In all, 4 patients were died at the time of this work.
Conclusion: oral cancer was more frequent in male, with higher age, early diagnosis in a half number of cases as well as vascular and neural invasions.
