Resumo: Glandular cheilitis (GC) is an uncommon inflammatory condition of uncertain etiology that affects the minor salivary glands, predominantly the lower lip. A 71-year-old male complaining of burning lips was referred for evaluation. He was a former smoker and presented hypertension. Intraoral physical examination revealed multiple submucosal nodules on the upper lip, noted on palpation, as well as enlarged ostia that secreted a clear tenacious mucus after light compression. Periapical radiographs of the region showed normal images. With the main diagnostic hypothesis of GC, an incisional biopsy was performed. After the incision, berry-like enlarged minor salivary glands were visible. Histopathological examination revealed chronic sialadenitis, ductal ectasia with mucinous content and oncocytic metaplasia, confirming the diagnosis. Additional surgical procedures to remove all nodules are being planned. Although more common on the lower lip, QG can also occur on the upper lip and the dentist must consider its diagnosis in suggestive clinical conditions.
