Resumo: Objective: This study aimed to assess the incidence of oral cavity sarcomas in children and adolescents through a literature review. Methodology: A search of medical databases was conducted using the keywords "Sarcoma" AND "Mouth Neoplasm", "Children", "Adolescents", and "Oral Lesions," focusing on research from the past decade. Results: Sarcomas constitute approximately 1% of all malignant neoplasms, arising from mesenchymal cells, with over 50 histological subtypes. They can occur at any age and affect various body parts. Sarcomas represent about 1% of head and neck neoplasms, but are rarer in the oral cavity, accounting for less than 1% of all lesions there. Rhabdomyosarcoma, Ewing sarcoma, osteosarcoma, and leiomyosarcoma are the most common types in this demographic. Rhabdomyosarcoma, in particular, represents 3-4% of pediatric cancers and 35% of head and neck cases, with peak incidence between ages one and four, declining from ten to fourteen, and stabilizing thereafter. Conclusion: Sarcomas, affecting diverse demographics and anatomical sites, present challenges in diagnosis and prognosis. Fewer subtypes occur in the oral cavity of young individuals, with rhabdomyosarcoma being predominant.
