Título: ORAL PRESENTATIONS OF IMMUNE-MEDIATED AND AUTOIMMUNE CONDITIONS: A CROSS-SECTIONAL INVESTIGATION

Nome do Apresentador: Larissa CONRADO da Silva

Categoria do Trabalho: Painel de pesquisa científica (PPC)

Área Temática: Estomatologia

Resumo: Aim: To evaluate oral presentations (OP) of immune-mediated (IM) and autoimmune (AI) conditions.

Material and methods: A retrospective cross-sectional examination involving individuals diagnosed with OP of IM/AI disorders was conducted from 2010 to 2022. Data compilation encompassed demographics, clinical details, treatment modalities, and histopathological observations. Statistical analyses employed Students t-test, Fishers Exact test, and Pearsons Chi-Square test (p≤0.05).

Results: 160 individuals fulfilled the inclusion criteria. Predominantly, female subjects (n=118/73.7%), with an average age of 60.16 years (range 16-99), were affected. Oral lichen planus (OLP) emerged as the most prevalent presentation (n=44/27.5%), trailed by mucous membrane pemphigoid (MMP) (n=38/23.7%), pemphigus vulgaris (PV) (n=31/19.4%), and systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE) (n=9/5.6%). The buccal mucosa (n=95/59.37%) was predominantly affected. Pain (n=74/46.25%) was frequently cited, particularly among patients with PV and MMP. The mean time until disease stabilization (in months) post local and/or systemic corticosteroid therapy was 15.80 ± 27.53 for SLE, 8.75 ± 10.05 for MMP, 6.52 ± 7.93 for PV, and 14.60 ± 23.39 for erosive OLP.

Conclusion: This investigation highlighted that OP of IM and AI conditions comprised 4.22% of all oral and maxillofacial presentations. These OP exhibited varying clinical trajectories.
