Resumo: Objective: Evaluate sociodemographic characteristics and lifestyle in former-smokers (FS) with Oral Cavity and Oropharynx cancer. Study Design: Data from INHANCE consortium composed by 2492 former-smokers. It was calculated absolute/relative frequence. Odds-Ratio was analyzed by multinomial regression with Larynx as reference. Results: Oropharyngeal cancer (OPC) is the most frequent in FS. Men have greater chance of OPC and lower oral cavity cancer (OCC). Older age have 4 times more likely to OPC, 51% less to OCC. OPC and OCC have greater chance of development with lower education/income. The highest amount of tobacco consumption was in OCC. OPC and OCC are twice more likely to have consumed a large amount of tobacco/year. Age at smoking started was between 11-20 years old for all subsites. Individuals with OPC/OCC stopped smoking later, 2 and 1.6 times respectively more likely after 55 years old. The FS was current-drinkers (65,7%), OCC are less likely to be former/current-drinker. OPC is 1.5 times more likely to start drinking later and 3 times to stopped. Majority stopped drinking/smoking between 1-10 years. Conclusion: The time of smoking cessation is short in FS. Other risk factors, such as alcohol has a role.
