Resumo: The giant cell fibroma is a benign fibrous lesion, hyperplasic and uncommon, having peculiarities that distinguish it from other hyperplasic lesions. Its etiology is unknown and unrelated to chronic irritable factors. The final diagnosis is determined by histopathological test. The subject was a 54-year-old female patient that complained about "a mass of flesh in the gum". During the clinical exam, a sessile mass was found, in the attached gingiva (tooth 21), measuring approximately 1cm, asymptomatic, presenting a reddish tone, of rough surface and fibrous consistency. Based on the hypothetical diagnosis of non-neoplastic proliferative lesion, a biopsy excisional was performed. Following the extraction of the mass, it was stored in 10% formaldehyde solution. After that, the container was labeled and sent to a pathology laboratory for analysis. Subsequently, the diagnosis of giant cell fibroma was confirmed. One year after the surgery, the lesion was non-recurring. The patient remains under clinical monitoring.
