Resumo: A 29-year-old female was referred for consultation presenting a painless mass in the lateral border of the tongue lasting several years. Clinical examination revealed a 1,5 cm firm, fibrous and lobulated submucosal yellowish mass, covered by an atrophic telangiectasic intact mucosal surface, in the left lateral ventral portion of the tongue. Clinical diagnosis and a conservative surgical removal of the lesion were performed. Gross analysis showed a yellowish lobulated firm specimen. Histological analysis of the HE-stained slides revealed a lobulated proliferation of well-organized cartilaginous tissue with mature chondrocytes associated with focal áreas of adipose tissue and peripheral myxoid tissue. The chondroid cells showed positivity to S100 protein and ki-67 expression was seen in less than 2% of the cells. Final diagnosis was compatible with cartilaginous choristoma/chondroma and the patient is under clinical follow-up with no signs of recurrence for 12 months.
