Resumo: In 1992, an 11-year-old girl was referred for evaluation of an asymptomatic swelling in the palate, noticed 10 days earlier. Extraoral examination revealed a swelling on the nasolabial fold area, elevating the right nasal ala. On intraoral examination a fibroelastic swelling on the anterior hard palate, associated with vestibular bone expansion was observed. Radiographic assessment showed an unilateral extensive radiolucent image, with irregular borders causing incisor root displacement. An incisional biopsy was performed and histopathological analysis led to the diagnosis of central giant cell granuloma. The lesion was surgically excised along with removal of the associated teeth under general anesthesia. The patient recovered well, with a space maintainer placed in the edentulous area. Afterwards, she was rehabilitated with fixed prosthesis. During more than 31 years of follow-up, no recurrence was observed.
