Título: TONSIL BACTERIAL INFECTION WITH FISTULA ON THE SOFT PALATE: A CASE REPORT AND MANAGEMENT STRATEGIES

Resumo: In normal conditions, tonsillar infection is a common occurrence and rarely associated with serious complications. However, eventually it can evolve with uncommon clinical presentation. A 35-year-old female patient was referred for evaluation of a lesion in the soft palate. She reported intense pain and use of intravenous medication without improvement. Clinical examination revealed a necrotic and ulcerated lesion in the left side of the soft palate, covered with a fibrinous-purulent membrane. With clinical hypothesis of tonsillar bacterial infection, systemic antibiotic was prescribed. Significant clinical improvement was observed associated with pain control. One month later, the lesion had completely healed. This report highlights how common lesions can present in atypical ways. This underlines the importance of recognizing a wide variety of clinical presentations when diagnosing and treating such conditions and the need for careful clinical surveillance and a precise and timely therapeutic approach.
