Resumo: Objective: The objective of this study was to investigate the prevalence and clinical characteristics of oral and maxillofacial manifestations associated with non-odontogenic infectious diseases (NOID). Methods: This cross-sectional and retrospective study involved extracting demographic and clinical data from individuals diagnosed with NOID within a Brazilian population from 2012 to 2022. The data were analyzed descriptively, presenting both relative and absolute frequencies. Results: A total of 4600 lesions were identified, with NOID accounting for 3.91% of the sample (n=181). The majority of affected individuals were women (n=124/68.5%), with a median age of 57 years. Fungal infections were the most prevalent (n=130/71.8%), with oral candidiasis being the predominant condition (n=156/86.1%). Viral lesions constituted 23.2% (n=42) of the sample, with human papillomavirus (HPV) (n=23/12.6%) and human herpesvirus (n=19/10.2%) being the most commonly identified. Primary syphilis represented the primary bacterial-origin infection (n=05/2.7%). Comorbidities such as systemic arterial hypertension (n=69/38.6%) and diabetes mellitus (n=28/15.4%) were frequently observed. The majority of lesions were located on the palate (n=73/40.3%), with burning sensation reported as the predominant symptom (n=56/40.8%). Conclusion: Oral candidiasis, herpetic infections, and HPV-induced lesions were the most prevalent NOID among outpatient individuals. Diabetes mellitus and systemic arterial hypertension emerged as significant comorbidities within this cohort.
