Resumo: Case Report
Introduction: Hereditary hemorrhagic telangiectasia (HHT), an autosomal dominant disorder, often manifests with arteriovenous malformations affecting various anatomical sites such as the skin, mucous membranes, lungs, brain, and gastrointestinal tract. This case study presents a male patient exhibiting oral manifestations of HHT, which represent a less common clinical presentation.
Case description: The patient, who has been diagnosed with HHT in 2013, is fully edentulous and underwent dental extractions before the diagnosis was made. During this period, he encountered complications characterized by bleeding episodes in both the trans and postoperative phases.
Upon clinical examination, telangiectasias were identified extensively across the palate and alveolar ridge, along with vascular malformations present on the tongue.
Conclusion: Given the heightened bleeding risk associated with HHT, especially during dental interventions, the clinical management necessitates a meticulous approach. Therefore, it is imperative for healthcare providers to request and accurately interpret complementary examinations before undertaking any invasive procedures.
