Título: LOCKING PLATE AND ILIAC CREST BONE GRAFTING FOR MANDIBULAR RECONSTRUCTION IN A PATIENT WITH CENTRAL GIANT CELL LESION

Resumo: A 48-year-old female patient presented an asymptomatic mandibular lesion from the lower right canine until the second lower left premolar, described as an unilocular lesion with dental roots resorption. An excisional resection with a safety margin was performed under the hypothesis of a giant cell tumor. The lesion, measuring around 7.5x4.0x2.0cm was adhered to the vestibular segment of the mandible, revealing a perforation of the cortical lingual bone. Microscopic examination showed a lesion characterized by vascular and fibroblastic proliferation, with a prominent number of multinucleated giant cells, surrounded by bony spicules. The diagnosis of a central giant cell lesion was established. A locking-type plate associated with iliac crest bone grafting for mandibular reconstruction was performed and the patient is being followed up with an oral and maxillofacial surgeon for about 6 months and submitted to a preliminary removable partial prothesis with planning for implant rehabilitation after 10 months.
