Resumo: Calcifying epithelial odontogenic tumor (CEOT) is a locally aggressive benign tumor prevalent in the posterior mandible, accounting for less than 1% of all odontogenic tumors. A 51-year-old male patient reported a complaint of swelling on the right side for the past six months with clinical diagnosis of dental abscess. On intraoral examination, a swelling in the edentulous premolar-molar region in the maxilla was noticed. The radiologic exam revealed an ill-defined, mixed, multilocular, and expansile lesion involving the right maxilla. On microscopic examination was observed extensive areas of acellular, eosinophilic amyloid-like deposits intermixed with polyhedral odontogenic epithelial cells. In some areas, the amyloid-like material exhibited calcifications resembling Liesegang rings. Congo-red staining revealed red-orange staining of the amyloid-like deposits and the odontogenic epithelial cells were immunopositivity for AE1/AE3 and CK19. The lesion was diagnosed as CEOT and the patient underwent a surgical removal with no signs of disease until last follow-up.
