Resumo: In 2016, a 60-year-old Caucasian woman, ex-smoker, presented a main complaint of an asymptomatic white spot in her mouth for two months. The intraoral examination revealed a thick white plaque on the gums around tooth #47, with well-defined edges, and a flat and uniform surface. An incisional biopsy was performed and showed hyperkeratosis with mild epithelial dysplasia. The patient was advised to maintain regular follow-up, but she failed to return. In 2020 she presented an extensive white plaque extending from the retromolar trigon to the lower central incisor gums, with a verrucous surface. The biopsy showed hyperkeratosis with mild epithelial dysplasia. In 2023, the extensive white plaque extended to the buccal mucosa on both sides and the maxillary gingival margin, presenting defined edges and a verrucous surface. A new biopsy was performed, showing hyperkeratosis with mild epithelial dysplasia. She is currently waiting for lesion excision with diode high-power laser.
