Resumo: Objective: This observational study, aims to identify how e-cigarettes affect oral health self-perception within a local academic community. Study desing: The QR codes presented on the posters published in educational institutions provide access to the free and informed consent form and research. Candidates meeting the inclusion criteria encompassed students from the specified institution who actively engaged in e-cigarette usage. In contrast, those falling under the exclusion criteria were individuals below 18 years of age. Results: The sample comprised 17 students who used e-cigarettes. Further, nine (53%) were women and eight (47%) were men, 10 white (59%), five dark-skinned (29%), and two black race (11%). The mean age of the patients was 23 years. Of the 17 users, three (18%) were former users of other types of tobacco and seven (41%) used e-cigarettes and tobacco cigarettes. Oral complaints were reported by four (23%) e-cigarette users and three e-cigarette and tobacco users. Oral complaints included tooth sensitivity (6%), gum bleeding (12%), dry mouth (21%), and changes in tooth color (29%). Conclusion: The present study's findings pertain to a localized sample. Given the novelty of this device, further research is warranted to delineate the user profile and assess the impact on oral health.
