Título: CLINICOPATHOLOGIC ANALYSIS OF MALIGNANT TUMORS OF SALIVARY GLANDS: A RETROSPECTIVE SINGLE CENTER STUDY

Resumo: Objective: To evaluate clinicopathological findings of malignant salivary glands tumors. Study design: A descriptive cross-sectional retrospective study was conducted with data collected from medical records, including epidemiological and pathological data. Results: The sample comprised 81 cases undergone to surgery as treatment, mostly in major salivary glands (86.4%), with a predominance in the parotid gland (66.6%). There was a prevalence in females (51%) with an average age of 51 years. The most prevalent histological type was mucoepidermoid carcinoma (29.6%), followed by adenoid cystic carcinoma (23.4%). Compromised surgical margins were observed in 31%, perineural invasion in 29%, and vascular invasion in 10.5%. The most prevalent pathological staging was IV (35.8%). Recurrence occurred in 19 cases (23.4%), with 26.3% being adenoid cystic carcinoma, 47.4% showing perineural invasion, 10.5% with vascular invasion, and 52.7% exhibiting compromised margins. Currently, 64 cases (79%) are disease-free. Conclusion: The results of this study demonstrated a higher occurrence in major salivary glands, with mucoepidermoid carcinoma being the most frequent. In cases of recurrence, adenoid cystic carcinoma represented the highest frequency, and the presence of perineural invasion and compromised margins appeared in half of the cases.
