Resumo: The study aims to report the clinical case of a 68-year-old man with recurrent tongue burning for 10 years without a prior diagnosis. Burning Mouth Syndrome (BMS) was diagnosed after ruling out systemic issues. A photobiomodulation therapy protocol was initiated using infrared laser irradiation (wavelength of 780 nm) with a fluence of 6J/cm², applied through scanning over the areas of mucosa affected by pain for 1 minute per area. The treatment frequency varied: weekly in the first month, biweekly in the second, and monthly from the third to the seventh. Pain was assessed using a visual analog scale (0 to 10) before and after each session. The patient reported pain reduction from 10 to 0 after the first session and a maximum pain level of 2 between sessions. Low-level laser therapy effectively reduced BMS symptoms, with therapeutic effects persisting at 30-day intervals during the seven-month follow-up.
