Resumo: Squamous Cell Carcinoma (SCC) corresponds to 90% of oral malignancies and impacts on quality of life. Case report: A 68-year-old female, former smoker for 20 years (5 cigarettes/day), wearing a prosthetic upper denture, was referred to our service with painless red/white ulcered lesion, uneven and elevated borders extending from right alveolar ridge to hard/soft palate, gums, and mucosa. She reported previous discomfort when a first dentist prescribed topical therapy with triamcinolone acetonide and referred her to a prosthesis specialist. With persistent discomfort and lesion progression, she searched for a third professional who referred her to our service with the hypothesis of SCC. Incisional biopsy confirmed the hypothesis and patient was then forwarded to a head and neck surgeon and oncology service. She underwent a right maxillectomy and bilateral cervical lymphadenectomy with immediate prosthetic occlusion and structure replacement. The patient is receiving oncologic and oral support; she is now under radio/chemotherapy.
