Resumo: Foregut duplication cyst (FDC) is a rare developmental lesion in the oral cavity. It has synonyms such as lingual choristoma. Originating from the endoderm, it can consist of gastric, intestinal, respiratory, squamous and ciliated epithelium. This article reports the clinical case of a 3-month-old baby girl with a single exophytic nodular lesion, sessile, smooth-surfaced, defined boundaries, measuring about 2cm, located on the floor of the mouth, asymptomatic, slow-growing from birth and causing difficulty in breastfeeding. A cytopathological examination and ultrasound were used as complementary tests prior to excisional biopsy under general anesthesia. The specimen was taken for histopathological analysis. The definitive diagnosis was FDC. Followed up for a year, there was adequate child growth and development, with no recurrence. The presence of intestinal epithelium in combination with respiratory epithelium in the oral cavity in a female baby, as reported in the literature, makes it rare.
