Resumo: Lipomas are benign soft tissue neoplasms composed of mature adipose tissue. Although lipomas are relatively common in the body skin, their prevalence in the oral cavity is low, representing less than 4.4% of all benign oral soft tissue tumors. Oral lipomas (OL) can be present at different anatomic locations in the oral cavity, being the palate one of the less commonly affected areas. As the clinical features are usually nonspecific, OL are frequently misdiagnosed and require histopathologic analysis. Here we present an unusual case of an OL involving the hard palate in a middled aged woman mimicking a salivary gland tumor. We describe its clinical, radiographical and histopathological characteristics. The lesion was removed through conservative surgery, and after one year, it did not show any signs of recurrence.
