Resumo: Paracoccidiodomycosis is a deep fungal infection caused by Paracoccidioides Brasiliensis. It is endemic in South America and mainly found in the rural area population. Diagnosis is made by biopsy and histopathological examinations. Treatment is performed with antifungals. The purpose of this study is to report a case of a seventy-six-year-old male patient who presented with the main clinical complaint of an ulcer and buccal mucosa and a history of difficulty in eating and brushing teeth. Additionally, he presented a significant weight loss with uncertain etiology. The main diagnostics hypotheses were squamous cell carcinoma and paracoccidiodomycosis. An incisional biopsy was performed, and the histopathological examination confirmed the diagnostic of paracoccidiodomycosis. The patient was referred to an infectious disease specialist and is undergoing treatment with itraconazole.
